Recovering from childbirth

Delivering a baby is never easy, and the mother's energy is not necessarily at its peak thereafter. Here are some great tips to help you recover from your birth more easily and get on foot faster to take care of your baby!

1) Listen to yourself

The most important thing is to listen to you and your body. Your delivery was different from that of your friends, and so are your needs. It is therefore important to follow the recommendations of your doctor which are addressed to you and to respect your own rhythm.

2) Take the time to recover

There is no urgency to do household chores or to visit all the relatives. Take the time you need to feel fit and enjoy your baby. Nothing should be urgent after childbirth; take the time to relax and rest.

3) Ask for help

If you're lucky enough to have family and close friends, don't be shy to ask them for help. They can bring you homemade meals, take care of your older children, go shopping, etc. In addition, if the father is present, he will have to be responsible for more tasks than usual for a certain time. Let him do the daily maintenance, and focus on you and your baby.

And finally, if you feel you are suffering from postpartum depression, don't hesitate to ask for help. The health professionals and the CLSC in your region are there to help you.
